Paris – Parisian fashion houses are offering recession struck consumers a new way to live the luxury lifestyle: By creating a new line in temporary tattoos.
At the recent Paris shows, Jean Paul Gaultier and Rodarte sent their models down catwalks covered in thick black tattoos that hinted tribal themes and folkloric fashion. Days later, Chanel stamped its models in temporary tattoos depicting dainty chain bracelets, rosary beads and birds.
Chanel’s tattoos are suitable for mass-retail and will be on sale in Spring. Like Chanel’s lipsticks and perfumes, ‘trompe-l’oeil tattoo transfers’ are another way of making luxury lifestyle available to the masses at low budget.
