Porto – An identifying system provides a solution for an underrepresented group of consumers: the colourblind. The ColorAdd system, designed by Miguel Neiva, uses different symbols to represent particular colours. Each symbol is created from three basic components – red, yellow and blue – thus creating a new visual language that can be understood without colour-sightedness. These icons can then be included on all colour-based systems, from clothing tags to transportation maps, in order to increase accessibility and understanding for a group of people who would normally struggle to tell colours apart.
