London – Channel 4’s NewsWall is a current affairs platform for the bite-size generation.

The NewsWall ticks a lot of boxes for the 16–34-year-olds it is aimed at. Being hosted on Tumblr is a good start, as is its Netstalgic GIF animation, which perfectly captures Channel 4’s irreverent style. Devised by 4Creative’s Jack Croft and Stacey Bird, working with GIF illustrator Chris Rice, the site is still in its infancy, but ITN plans to hand over responsibility for animations to the Channel 4 News team.
The Big Picture: Micro-communication has spawned a change in the way consumers access and absorb information. Along with Snapchat Discover, digital platforms are seamlessly integrating short-form copy, video and visuals that enable always-on consumers to keep abreast of the topics that matter to them.
