Milan – As a presentation on the art of dining, the Total Table Design project for the Netherlands’ Zuiderzeemuseum reflects two of this year’s recurrent themes: conviviality and craft.
The installation, unveiled today in Milan’s new design district, Ventura Lambrate, was created by an all Dutch team of Scholten & Baijings and Kiki van Eijk, supported by the Audax Textile Museum Tilburg, Royal Leerdam Crystal and Koninklijke van Kempen & Begeer.
While van Eijk created a more traditional setting with muted ceramics and linens, Scholten & Baijings opted for a playful and graphic interpretation of a table setting, playing with grids, colour blocks and layered patterns.
This year’s Milan Design Week has featured a smorgasbord of installations about food, including Cosmit’s opening party Tutti a Tavola, Studio Formafantasma and FoodMarketo.
