Europe – Kering has turned its attention to climate change with a feature length film celebrating the life and work of French glaciologist Claude Lorius.

  • Now in his 80s, Lorius has made it his life’s work to study the effects of climate change on the polar ice caps
  • Ice and the Sky made its debut in Paris earlier this year, and will open in cinemas across France later this month

As a co-producer of the film, directed by Luc Jacquet, Kering is raising the CSR stakes with a thoughtful and emotionally charged documentary that will inspire future leaders to build their businesses around sustainability.

Many people forget that climate change was only recently accepted as a reality, thanks in no small part to the tireless campaigning of people like Lorius, who has completed more than 20 polar expeditions in the search for unequivocal proof of global warming.

‘The film resonates deeply with our group’s beliefs, whether it be in terms of the importance of environmental awareness and education, or the necessity to adopt more sustainable practices,’ says François-Henri Pinault, CEO and chairman of Kering.

The Big Picture

In the spirit of Altruvation, Kering has revealed that the brand will share its sustainable methodologies with competitors for the common good. Read our review of 1.618 Sustainable Luxury 2015 to find out more.
