Milan – Designer Bastiaan de Nennie presented a physical iteration of his Digital Virtuosity project at Frame magazine’s What’s the Matter exhibition.

: The designer translated his unique digital creations into tangible objects

: The exhibition examined the effect of digital technology on contemporary design

Presented during Dutch Design Week 2015, De Nennie’s Digital Virtuosity project proposed a new methodology for creating objects by scanning, sampling and reconfiguring pre-existing forms. This ‘reversed design process’ came full circle in Milan as he presented physical, 3D-printed versions of his abstract digital renderings.

For De Nennie, making a distinction between the analogue and virtual nature of his work feels pointless. ‘My sketches are not inherently physical or digital. My ultimate dream is to design a platform where the two come together – a virtual world with objects you can feel and interact with,’ the designer told LS:N Global.

De Nennie also presented new works at Dutch Invertuals’ Advanced Relics exhibition and the Envisions show.
