London – The curtain has opened today on a new theatre built entirely from recycled objects. The Jellyfish Theatre is the brainchild of the Red Room theatre and film company, and will show eco-inspired plays from its location on the South Bank of the River Thames.
The building has been created using discarded objects from local residents and businesses, as well as from disused pallets from Covent Garden’s fruit and vegetable market. Plays will include Oikos by Simon Wu, and Protozoa by Kay Adshead.
From recycled theatres to pop-up cinemas, new live events are increasingly capturing the imagination of consumers. LS:N Global will report more on the growth of ‘live’ in the forthcoming Trend Briefing on 6 October.
