Wellness Sky
Belgrade’s elite dined, in the swinging 70s, at the Danube Flower, a striking Brutalist structure balanced 15 metres above the river and the esplanade. The silk and sequins have been replaced by shorts and Spandex: some 35 years on, rescuing the disused building from disrepair, a team of architects has converted the former restaurant into a fitness centre. The inspired transformation plays with issues of modernity and internationality, reflecting the shifting behaviours and desires of a renewed Serbia.
