New York – Intelligent cash registers might know more than you think about your shopping habits. A new smart cash register by Intel, unveiled at the recent National Retail Federation convention, will allow sales assistants to learn a wealth of information about customers as they pay for their goods. The omnipotent register will detect information on customers’ store cards via built-in RFID chips, and will highlight data on related products and purchase histories.
The prototype device, designed by San Francisco-based Frog Design, imagines an interactive cash register that will allow for tailored product and sales information that consumers will want to hear, doing away with irrelevant promotional attempts during payment.
