Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Sports brand Adidas is to introduce the miCoach professional football team-tracking system at the 2012 AT&T Major League Soccer All-Stars game on 25 July.
The miCoach data chip will be attached to players’ shirts to automatically record information such as their position on the pitch, maximum speed, intensity of performance and distance covered during the game.
The technology is a development of the miCoach Speed Cell fitted in the sole of the adiZero F50 football boot, and an example of the continuing advances in the digitisation of daily life.
For more on digitisation and the people who use data generated in similar ways to measure and monitor the world around them, read our Self-Quants tribe report.
