International – Microsoft has announced the beta release of an Android app and corresponding website called on{x}, which features a remote programming function to enhance smartphone usage.
The website enables users to programme an Android to respond to different situations and perform responsive functions, such as automatically sending a pre-written text when leaving work to inform their partner.
Users create personalised ‘recipes’ that are based on triggers, such as a change in location or mode of transport, and actions, to call someone or play music for example. These can then be shared in the on{x} forum.
The app illustrates consumer demand for simpler, more efficient and more intuitive technology, as noted in our Intuitive Futures macrotrend. Read our Eben Upton Inform to find out more about advances in seamless technologies.
