Confrontations
Known for casting a nostalgic eye on traditions of the past, Studio FormaFantasma became wrapped up in the folk ritual of charcoal-burning in its latest project, Confrontations, for Vitra Design Museum and presented at Design Miami/ Basel 2012.The Dutch/Italian design duo collaborated with Doris Wicki, one of the last remaining experts in making charcoal using a slow-burning process that is steeped in folk tradition, to explore the various contradictions of charcoal.
