London – Designer and film-maker Keiichi Matsuda has created a large Prism installation in the cupola of the V&A museum, the highest part of the building which is reached through a dark, winding staircase.
The V&A has opened previously closed areas for this year’s London Design Festival (LDF). Prism, a large, iridescent, geometric lantern sculpture, transforms live data flows from the city of London into patterns of light and colour projected onto the translucent paper from which it is made.
Matsuda collaborated with the London cycle hire scheme and 10 Downing Street to create the live installation, which provides a dramatic vision of the virtual city.
