San Sebastián, Puerto Rico – Multidisciplinary architecture and design studio Think Big Factory has created the Smart Tasting prototype, which experiments with how the Internet of Things can enhance dining.
The installation, created with the Basque Culinary Center and appliance company Fagor Electrodomésticos, connects diners and chefs, enabling people to understand the most interesting parts of food preparation. Smart panels on the table provide extra information on the dishes using light projections. Symbols can also be tapped to like, share or buy wines.
This is a compelling concept that shows how the digital world will merge with our physical environment in the future. For more on how interfaces are changing, read our 2013 International CES Review Part 1.
