New York – An new campaign by crowdfunding website Indiegogo is raising money to bring to market Canary, a new smart security device for the home.

The smartphone-controlled device contains an HD video camera, a microphone and multiple sensors that are able to track motion, temperature, air quality and humidity.

Using these sensors, Canary can identify sudden changes in the home and instantly update the home-owner with security alerts. When users receive a message from Canary, they are given a number of actions to choose from, enabling them to view their home through the HD camera, call the police or text a neighbour to check the property.

Homes are becoming increasingly connected and digital. To find out more, read our Future Family macrotrend.
