Mama Shelter
A new hotel in Paris is looking to house the tourists of the 21st century. Mama Shelter – developed by the Trigano family (who created Club Med) in collaboration with urban philosopher Cyril Aouizerate, architect Roland Castro and designer Philippe Starck – breaks down the pillars of accepted wisdom in the hospitality industry: the hotel is tucked away in a neighbourhood unfamiliar to most tourists; it has graffiti on the ceilings and floors; its dining room features a long communal table reminiscent of the set-up in a school canteen. Better still, internet access and other business-related perks are offered free of charge throughout the hotel.
