London- Former Royal College of Art graduate James Long presented his autumn/winter 2010 collection as part of NewGen Men at London Fashion Week.
His show was inspired by durable workwear, such as boiler suits, made into romantic pieces of clothing. Punk-era leather trousers in shades of deep ink blue were paired with super-soft chunky knitwear.
With no fuss or frills, the wearability in Long’s collection, including a colour palette of simple blacks and greys, pins down hard-wearing clothes for these hard times. We also noted this new male sophistication during Paris Fashion Week.
The collection taps into the rise of a dark, chaotic aesthetic as explored in our Entangled design direction.
