London – Recent BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund winner Christopher Shannon showed a youth-inspired collection on the opening day of London Collections: Men.
Paraphernalia found in a teenager’s bedroom inspired Shannon, including classic items such as joss sticks, dreamcatchers and dolphin motifs. Large T-shirts with drop sleeves and shorts were adorned with copy-and-paste-aesthetic screen prints reminiscent of teenage scrapbooks.
Tracksuits were loose-fitting and oversized, and decorated with multiple, brightly coloured zip pockets. Nylon outfits with drawstring fastenings had square cut-outs and boldly coloured taped edges, while others were one-piece, creating a T-shirt and shorts hybrid. Shannon opted for an electric colour palette of orange, blue and purple mixed with monochrome.
LS:N Global will be examining youth culture at our Youthquake Network Evening on Thursday 19 June. For more, look out for video coverage of the event in our Seed section.
