US – Beautiful Me is a new beauty app that scans Facebook photos and makes recommendations for future beauty purchases.
The app is the latest launch from ModiFace, the company behind the Sephora 3D Augmented Reality Mirror. By scanning up to 500 Facebook photos the app can pinpoint unique skin tones, and note how they have changed over time. It is also said to be able to profile how the skin is ageing.
‘While most apps only use basic analysis of a single photo, the combination of big data and machine-learning algorithms used in Beautiful Me gives users a much more accurate description of their skin profile,’ says Miriam Pettinen, director of partnerships and mobile strategy, who led the app’s development.
Based on the information collected, the app can make curated recommendations of skin, anti-ageing and cosmetics products across a range of brands including Inglot, Clariol and Make Up For Ever.
