London – At the Awakening Tech Network Evening last week, held at The Future Laboratory’s Elder Street office, LS:N Global senior journalist Rowland Manthorpe spoke to Lauren Bowker, founder of arts collective The Unseen.
Bowker describes The Unseen as a ‘materials exploration house’ and ‘a collective of different skills, of engineers, chemists, sculptors, different people who come together to transform chemical and biological techniques into fabrics’.
Bowker says that the name comes from the desire to create a ‘language or visual indicator’ of things you can’t normally see, be it data, heat, emotion or even ghosts.
Watch the above video to hear about the collective’s recent collaboration with Swarovski and how they are aiming to ‘bring back the surprising beauty of technology’.
