Milan Salone 2015 – Students of Switzerland’s ECAL university of art and design have worked under the tutelage of master Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin, for the first exhibit by ECAL at this year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.
- Students worked under the guidance of Dutch duo Studio FormaFantasma to create 12 products
- The pieces, presented at the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, explore alternative, contemporary interpretations of timekeeping
For Time According to ECAL and Swiss Craftsmen the designers focused on the notion of experiential luxury and pieces include thoughtful interpretations of the particular travel, landscapes, behaviour and sensations associated with the passing of the four seasons. Made from materials such as naturally cracked ceramics, carbon fibre, cast bronze and delicate paper, each piece was developed with swiss master craftsmen. The theme and approach are evocative of the From Then On exhibit curated by Studio FormaFantasma in collaboration with Established & Sons for the London Design Festival 2014.
