London – Within earshot of the Bow Bells, a boutique hotel has opened in the heart of the east end inside a former town hall.
Hotelier Peng Loh has transformed the Edwardian building in Bethnal Green into luxury accommodation that will be open from 12 May.
The makeover has been led by architects Michel Da Costa Gonçalves and Natalie Rozencwajg of Rare Architecture, who were commissioned to reappropriate the listed building into 98 rooms and apartments.
The imposing frontage and neo-classical façade have been restored, new space has been added to the roof and a rear façade has been created.
Each bedroom in the Town Hall Hotel features a concealable kitchenette for guests wishing to stay for longer periods. A hi-tech gym will enable fitness fans to run a virtual race over lavish global landscapes.
