New York – A band is thinking beyond the cd case for the distribution of its new album.
Marrow has collaborated with designers Bliss Ignorance to create a medically inspired package for the album Sunshine Enema.
The eight tracks come in the form of audio files on a USB stick: the stick is shaped like a large pill and is packaged in a pill bottle. A prescription sheet is provided, containing dosing instruction on how to listen to the music, along with suitably subversive advice.
Music has been moving away from product and towards services. Streaming music sites such as Spotify and Pandora have started to replace traditional music sales.
But as Music 3.0 rises, the physical music product is fighting back with creative packaging and because consumers like the experience of purchasing a tangible good.
