London – A shopping mall operator will crowdsource design talent for its new retail development.
Westfield will open the Stratford City mall in east London in 2011 as part of the gateway to the Olympic Park. It has set up Studio East to identify and support emerging talent whose work will be incorporated into the £1.45bn shopping centre.
Bursaries will be available in the categories of fashion, art, product design and environment.
A panel of experts including artist Tracey Emin, furniture designer Tom Dixon and fashion designer Roland Mouret will decide on the talent.
