Milan – Italian fashion house Prada has looked to the dress codes of utility for its Spring 2011 collection. In particular, Miuccia Prada explored the uniforms of hospital professionals, with models wearing loosely fitting denim scrubs like casual t-shirts.
For modern utility, Prada produced three-buttoned suit jackets in narrow cuts to create an elongated silhouette. Colourful knitwear mostly comprised wide boatneck cuts, suggesting naval utility.
The most interesting component of the range, however, was the footwear. Multiple-layered soles emphasised height, creating an unusual hybrid form of footwear that mixed brogue with creeper. Overall, Prada has signalled a much brighter outlook for menswear next year.
