Moscow – In US-based interactive artist David Bowen’s latest installation, dried plant stems connected to robotic devices in the Laboratoria gallery in Moscow move in unison with plant stalks outside a gallery in Minnesota.
The video shows how the plants sway in the wind in Minnesota. At the same time the plants in the Moscow gallery move. An accelerometer detects the movement, transmitting it in real time over the internet to the devices in Moscow.
These ‘robots’ are designed to imitate natural form and function, according to Bowen.
