London – A pop-up specialist bookstore constructed entirely from cardboard this week welcomes architects and others perhaps more familiar with building for posterity. Foldaway Bookshop, created by design studio Campaign for the London Festival of Architecture, stocks architecture classics, artists’ books documenting life in today’s urban spaces and a collection of vintage copies of premier architecture journal Architectural Design.
With its focus on card, paper and the printed word, the Foldaway Bookshop is a celebration of the tangible and the physical in an increasingly virtual world – much like the stone, bricks and concrete of architecture itself.
Look out for our forthcoming interview with Philip Handford, founder of Campaign, in our Inform section.
