Paris – French architect Stéphane Malka has transformed the Arche de la Défense in Paris into affordable housing as part of a vision to create a Pocket of Active Resistance.
This act of ‘guerrilla architecture’ sets out to unite the forsaken, the marginalised, refugees, demonstrators, dissenters, hippies and utopians. Inside the ‘hijacked’ building is a modular housing system attached to the interior walls, connected via catwalks and scaffolding.
As LS:N Global explores in our Turbulent Teens trend report there will continue to be a global shift away from rural to urban living. Projects like these may therefore become more common.
