London – Confectionery brand Skittles has recently provided an update of fans’ updates on Facebook.
The Super Mega Rainbow Updater, by advertising agency TBWA\London, is the next step in Skittles’ social media campaign and provides an almost instant video updater service for its 1.5m UK Facebook fans.
Fans enter their update and within a few minutes, it is ‘rainbowified’, or a video made and posted back to the user’s wall. The video includes a middle-aged man with headphones in the Skittles call centre reading the message on camera. The Skittles rainbow colours are evident in the background and the man sits next to a bowl of sweets. One update is from a fan who is ‘crossing off dates in his calendar for an ultimate romantic adventure to Berlin’.
This is a great example of how a brand can use humour to please the online-savvy Generation D.
