Saint-Étienne – An exhibition by London-based design studio Dunne & Raby at Biennale Internationale Design 2010 aims to challenge the conventional ways in which design can function in our society.
The Humanity Defense Group project presents a collection of alternate, but not unfamiliar, worlds that experiment with ideas of future products and technology free from current social or market constraints.
Through experimental ‘free design’, contrasting objects are layered with imagery and 3D text to create a thought-provoking Orwellian environment. Highlights include a food-producing machine for an over-populated planet, a euthanasia-inspired afterlife machine, and a public mind privacy helmet.
