Milan – Presenting a new opportunity in material exploration, a chair unveiled at the Salone del Mobile makes use of a pioneering composite for furniture design. Borrowing from automobile technology, the new ‘LIN 94’ chair by French designer and inventor François Azambourg for DSC is made from a fibreglass and linen mixture, creating a completely biodegradeable, organic and highly sustainable design.
The chair’s signature composite allows for an extremely lightweight shell; in addition, minimal light absorption capabilities mean users will no longer suffer the shock of a hot seat if the chair is left out in the sun.
LS:N Global editor Martin Raymond caught up with Azambourg at the show to discuss the implications that such a composite will have on the future of design. Click here to listen to the interview.
