Top marks: Atelier A1 scores high at Milan

Milan – Brussels-based design collective Atelier A1 was a welcome surprise at the Salone del Mobile, with a beautiful, cohesive show made up of individual projects by the studio’s six partners: Marina Bautier, Benoit Deneufbourg, Nathalie Dewez, Elric Petit, Diane Steverlynck and Sylvain Willenz.

Clean lines and unfussy forms unite the group of Belgian designers; our picks include Diane Steverlynck’s simple ‘Tight’ wooden stool and Marina Bautier’s modular and efficiently manufactured ‘Lap’ shelving units. A highlight of the Milan design fair, Atelier A1 is a studio to watch over the coming months.
