London – Jamie Ryan Dee, a 17-year-old Tumblr icon with 220,000 followers, shed light on how he amassed his fan base and explored ways in which brands could harness the social curation site at LS:N Global’s Youth Network Evening on 18 April.
A case study in our Netstalgia tribe, Dee signed up to Tumblr in April 2010 and describes his page as ‘my creative diary, mixed with the inside of my head’.
‘Many people say that the reason they follow me is that I come across as genuine and I’ve always been myself and I’m always confident in who I am,’ says Dee.
Although once a member of Facebook and Twitter as well, Dee has closed these accounts to focus on Tumblr. ‘With Tumblr you follow people that you find interesting and it’s a lot more creative and less judgemental than Facebook,’ says Dee.
