International – Creative technology company Animal Systems has developed Chirp a low-tech, file-sharing app that transmits data through sound.
Using a burst of digital birdsong, Chirp transmits photos, links and text messages to devices within hearing range. Chirps can be played through any sound outlet including radios or public address systems, allowing data to travel a long way.
Chirp has great potential for brands because it enables them to send information or offers directly to their consumers’ smartphones during in-store announcements or during tv adverts. It will also benefit consumers who are tired of using USB sticks or writing emails to transfer information.
