Milan – Re-enlightened Eindhoven duo OS and OOS have designed a lamp that mimics lunar eclipses.
Their Syzygy lamp, previewed at the Rossana Orlandi space during Milan Design Week 2013, adjusts its own output with filtered disks depending on the strength of light in the room. During daylight hours, the lamp automatically reconfigures to reduce light output and vice versa after dark.
Inspired by astronomic configurations and eclipses, OS and OOS’s Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen told LS:N Global: ‘We were inspired by the idea of the sun’s light running out one day and what that could mean for responsive design in the future.’

LS:N Global will be reporting from Milan throughout the week.
