London – During our Re-enlightenment Design Network Evening, held at The Future Laboratory HQ last week, LS:N Global visual editor Joanna Tulej interviewed designer and film-maker Keiichi Matsuda about how augmented reality can inform design.
Matsuda’s practice explores the intersection of design, technology and urbanism, particularly where the physical realm meets the digital. With a background in architecture, Matsuda felt frustrated by the practice. ‘There was no real way for architects to interact with things going on such as the internet and open-source culture,’ he told the audience.
Living in a technology-driven world, Matsuda feels it is the duty of designers to explore technology to see how it can be used for the better. For more on Matsuda’s ethos, watch the video above and read our Inform piece on the designer.
