New York – Combining electronic lights with a pop-up book, Electronic Popables is an entrancing new take on the childhood favourite. The interactive pop-up book, which sparkles, sings and moves, was created by Columbia University mechanical engineering student Jie Qi, with assistance from Leah Buechley and Tshen Chew of the MIT Media Lab.
Using paper-based electronics in a standard pop-up format, this simple idea – bursting with playful optimism and creativity – is a fine example of Dreamtelligent design for children.
