Singapore – Visitors to the Hermès store at Liat Towers shopping centre can now enjoy a nice cup of tea and a sit-down, as Third Floor, the art space founded and supported by the luxury brand, hosts a new installation by Japanese artist Rei Sato.
‘No Need for Forever’, which includes photographs, paintings and objects bearing the artist’s playful approach, aims to recreate Sato’s family’s café in Tokyo. The colourful, homey space is decked out with mismatched cushions and hand-made, rough-hewn wooden tables, while scarves and fabric samples are strung around the room as bunting. Every here and there, overturned beer-bottle crates stand in as stools.
The Dreamtelligent work, with its whimsical take on the everyday, immerses shoppers in a warm, welcoming world removed from the plush surrounds of a luxury boutique.
