At our Polarity Paradox Preview Network Evening, held at The Future Laboratory HQ last week, LS:N Global reporter Rowland Manthorpe spoke to computational artist Peter Crnokrak about his design practice The Luxury of Protest and how he explores the convergence of art with new technologies, transforming data into intricate poignant pieces.
Crnokrak’s work looks to make meaning out of data through visualisations, grounding his work in human emotion. ‘Data visualisation is popular because people want to know what is going on with the world,’ said Crnokrak. ‘Data allows for a top-level analysis and generalisations to be made from a hard value. [For my work], I never use graphs or typical science language to represent values, I try to imbue an emotional quality into everything that I do.’
