Sweden – Band John Moose has pre-released its album via a smartphone app, free for anyone to listen as long as they are away from civilisation.
- Band has deep roots in the woods of Värmland in Sweden
- Listeners can only access the album for free when they are in the woods away from busy towns
The John Moose app, developed by the band’s drummer Tobias Norén, uses a phone’s GPS to locate listeners. Only once they are in a wood can they access the album. ‘Our music is about the constant war between nature and civilsation,’ explains singer André Szeles. ‘The album tells the story about the alter-ego John Moose, and how he decides to leave civilisation for absolute isolation. Therefore it seems fitting to release the album in the woods.’
