Dundee, Scotland – A design student has developed a way to produce the perfect cup of tea.

Callum Kenny from the University of Dundee has identified four requirements for the best cup of tea: a glass carafe, three glass temperature bulbs, a tea caddy and a filter.

The three bulbs indicate an optimum brewing temperature, and work through the changing densities in the water. The first stage is to choose the temperature bulb for the tea, place it in the carafe and watch it sink. When it floats the water is ready. Then measure the right amount of loose tea from the caddy in to the filter and observe the changing colour in the carafe. The brewing process stops when the filter is removed.
