Frankfurt – Car manufacturer Volvo has unveiled the Concept You car, which features eye sensors to activate the vehicle’s control centre.
A touchscreen wakes up when the driver looks at it and provides information on the road. Another sensor recognises hand movements to activate the car’s infotainment system.
‘Certain functions, such as surfing the web, are only accessible from the passenger side while the car is moving,’ says Peter Horbury, vice-president of design at Volvo. ‘The technology knows who the driver is and adapts itself automatically.’
This is a compelling example of an intuitive interface. For further examples, read our Intuitive Futures macro trend.
