Stockholm – Addressing the need for denser single-family housing, a new scheme proposes a sustainable solution that leaves as much space for cultivation as possible.
The Vertical Village, designed by Tham & Videgard Hansson Arkitekter, sees neighbourhoods built around communal and private garden spaces, with high hedges dividing each household’s individual plot. The three- and four-storey houses are aimed at small family units, and ensure ample green space for cultivation. In addition, two existing buildings within the area are being transformed into a nursery school and a community house.
