Omotesando, Tokyo – The pioneer of the pop-up is changing the face of retail once again. Comme des Garçons’ new store, on Tokyo’s equivalent to the Champs-Elysées, takes its cues from museum format and borrows display cabinets from London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
The new outlet, the Comme des Garçons Trading Museum, aims to encourage ‘just looking’ and the format should entice fashionable window-shoppers. Among the items on display are vintage Comme and Stephen Jones designs, alongside contemporary offerings from the likes of Fleet Ilya and Pieke Bergmans.
