Copenhagen – A cocktail bar and art gallery have come together in Denmark’s capital to create an intimate, private drinking experience.
Inside a period city house in the centre of Copenhagen, the Huset ved Kongens bar takes inspiration from the speakeasies and cocktail bars of prohibition era New York. Minimal amounts of furniture have been placed inside in order to maintain a private, almost domestic atmosphere. The space itself will function as a place to host art exhibitions and launch parties.
With an increased emphasis on curbing drinking by governments around the world, as explored in our Prohibition Culture trend, it seems apt that new bar designs should present themselves as places where drinkers can escape a prohibitive society and indulge freely, without the feeling that they’re being overlooked.
