*Hasselt, Belgium -**Design alliance Studio Glithero has created a series of benches using a technique dating back a century. Plaster and a ‘running mould’ have been used to create pieces based on the traditional designs of ceiling cornices and roses for the ‘Design by Performance’ exhibition at Belgium’s Z33 centre for contemporary art and design.
To create ‘Running Mould’, a full-sized, arced bench in the form of a cornice, a zinc cast running around a pivot was pushed through wet plaster that had reached a paste-like consistency. Repeating the performance built up layers of plaster to create the bench.
Studio Glithero’s individual approach reflects that of the Betapreneurs profiled in our recent trend report.
