Milan – Swiss gallery NOV has put out an open call to young emerging designers to propose new definitions of luxury.
- The designers created objects that examine themes such as the luxury of anonymity and the luxury of controlling one’s own time
- I Dream of Luxury is on display at Spazio Rossana Orlandi
Designers selected through the open call created tangible interpretations of luxury that reach beyond the material world to the immaterial.
Anonyma by Joëlle Aeschlimann and Matthieu Girel links the future of luxury to the desire among consumers for privacy in an increasingly digital world. The duo created two mask-like structures that are designed to camouflage the identity of the wearer. The ‘electronic accessories’ feature built-in voice-modification software and reflect the insecure nature of our online privacy and data.
Volutes by Anouk-Eva Meyer imagines scent and the emotional connections it evokes as a luxury object. It comprises a brass structure combined with a rough rattan weave that absorbs and emits pleasant aromas.
