Espoo, Finland – Smartphones and cars will soon be linked following a series of partnerships between mobile phone company Nokia and automotive firms.
‘Terminal mode’ technology will see the integration of in-car display panels with smartphone features. For example, information about a vehicle’s speed and fuel consumption can be fed into a smartphone’s navigation service, and music from a smartphone can be played through the in-car sound system.
Driving-specific applications will be available to download from Nokia’s Ovi Store.
The technology is a step closer to the seamless service required by people who are constantly on the go. Our Bleisure report explores how new mobile tools are helping workers to function wherever they are, and how consumers can access goods and services while on the move.
