Montreal – Indie rock band Arcade Fire has unveiled a new type of digital artwork for its latest album The Suburbs. Created by director Vincent Morisset and designer Caroline Robert, the digital images were designed to accompany each MP3 track on the album.
Each image, inspired by old vinyl sleeves, is displayed when played on a portable music device such as an iPod or an iPhone. The lyrics also appear as the songs are played, making listening to music as much a visual experience as an audio one.
LS:N Global previously featured musician Matthew Dear’s album project, which created a tangible way to package digital music. We expect to see more compelling ways to package music soon.
