Barnstaple, UK – Bringing a new meaning to the moving image, a cinema on wheels is making its way around North Devon, UK. The Movie Bus Project, an initiative of Vintage Mobile Cinema and the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon, is touring the area to screen archive footage of local communities.
The movie bus is itself a piece of local history: dating from 1967, it is the only surviving one of a fleet of seven that the government built to showcase British production techniques of the time.
‘People are enchanted by the vehicle,’ Emma Giffard, co-founder of Vintage Mobile Cinema, tells LS:N Global.
From untethered retail to pop-up cinemas, temporary, nomadic experiences are increasingly stealing the show.
